Does MOTHER 3 qualify to be listed as an example of Rated M For Manly on TV Tropes? Posted: 06 Feb 2020 01:26 AM PST Examples of reasons why I'm asking this include: The game almost immediately starting with an entire forest being burned down while this song plays Literally everything about Flint, especially his distinctly Clint-Eastwood-esque design and personality and the way in which he beats up enemies with a stick (which is later repeated by Lucas, although Flint's saxophone sound effects DO greatly enhance said experience) Boney not even needing a weapon for physical attacks (although he eventually gets one anyway) The Reconstructed Caribou, despite it being a pathetic warm-up boss difficulty-wise The cyborg Tyrannosaurus Rex (Mecha Drago) at the end of Chapter 1, which Flint also beats up with a stick (after stabbing it with one of its own fangs, no less) in an extremely rage-fueled attempt to get revenge on it for the loss of his wife Duster having a crippled leg yet still being able to take down hordes of enemies by kicking them (and then, of course, there's his Drill Sergeant Nasty father, Wess) Kumatora and her "electric guitar" attack instrument The two main bosses of Chapter 3 being a wolf/cactus hybrid and a giant military tank Battle themes such as Serious, Dangerous Guys, Strong One, Natural Killer Cyborg, Master Porky's Theme, Battle Against The Masked Man, Rock And Roll and Intense Guys The "Neckbeard and Skinhead" duo from Club Titiboo The Jealous Bass looking as if it has a giant Badass Mustache Some of the game's "standard enemy" Chimeras, particularly the Rhinocerocket, the Parental Kangashark, the Hippo Launcher, the Cattlesnake and the Horsantula The robot-and-mutant-infested post-apocalyptic highway that you end up having to navigate your way through in order to reach the lightning-shooting Tower Of Doom in Chapter 5 The Fierce Pork Trooper, even though he isn't actually that hard of a boss at all Running enemies over with the Pork Bean The OUTRAGEOUSLY dirty and dilapidated diner on the aforementioned highway (naturally, if you're brave enough to actually go into said diner after seeing how terrible it already looks on the outside, its jukebox rewards you with some of the best music in the game) The Forlorn Junk Heap keeping itself alive using its sheer human-killing intent alone Lil Miss Marshmallow and Mr. Genetor, both of which are fought in the Thunder Tower Absolutely EVERYTHING about the Masked Man (his lightsaber, his arm cannon, his psychic superpowers, his jetpack/wings combo, his incredible strength, his badass robot helmet complete with what appears to be a Dragon Ball scouter, him being a cyborg, his battle music, etc) The Pigmask Army in general (its often-extreme goofiness aside) Fassad being so determined to kill you that even having to deal with being reconstructed in the absolute most humiliating fashion imaginable (TWICE, no less) STILL doesn't stop him; also, him being a brutish, hedonistic, toxically masculine pig in general The Almost Mecha-Lion, the Steel Mechorilla and the Ultimate Chimera The Barrier Trio near the end of Chapter 7, especially when it strikes its "dying" pose The fact that the game features an actual boss called the Natural Killer Cyborg The game's Final Cave looking like Hell itself Porky's spider tank, returning from EarthBound and looking WAY more badass this time around The game's "entire world blows up so that it can start its next life" ending [link] [comments] | ||
