Which Mother pairing do you ship? Posted: 17 Mar 2021 02:09 PM PDT I don't know how open you all are to shipping these characters...but I thought might as well give it shot. Out of these common ships I've seen on FFN/A03, which do you think is the cutest/best shipping couple? [link] [comments]

How well did Earthbound and/or Earthbound: Beginnings sell on the Wii U eShop? Posted: 17 Mar 2021 02:35 PM PDT I heard these games sold quite well on there, but maybe it wasn't enough, hence why neither still have released for NES or SNES Online. Does someone have a point of reference maybe as to how well they sold? [link] [comments]

Earthbound music popping up in current memes Posted: 16 Mar 2021 10:12 PM PDT I just wanted to acknowledge how happy it makes me to see and hear recent memes with various Earthbound music tracks. Lots of em seem definitely made by younger generations (younger than me anyway), and it soothes my soul that new waves of youth are still being exposed to Earthbound. It seems like Eb couldve easily been lost in time and just be a unknown quiHello, its your dad You've been out there for a long time now It may be none of my business but don't you think it would be a good idea to take a break?<Yes> < No > [link] [comments]
How many places are there to save on Holy Loly Mt.? Posted: 17 Mar 2021 08:53 AM PDT I'm close to beating M1 and I want to continue to play throughout the week but can only play around an hr per day tops. How many places are there to save on the mountain? Or would I be better to just hold off until I can finish it this weekend? [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Mar 2021 07:48 PM PDT I've played EarthBound again recently, being inspired by watching Chuggaaconroy's replay of the game that he did three years ago, and through both watching said LP and my own playthrough, I've been surprised by how much the game feels very explorable despite the game ultimately being very linear. Even in Onett, the game does its best to not be obnoxious on where you need to go. Once you walk from the suburbs to the town proper, there's no cutscene that goes "MEGA MAN, MEGA MAN, YOU NEED TO BEAT THE SHARKS TO GET THE MAYOR'S TRUST AND GO TO GIANT STEP!" (sorry, Arin Hanson). You can either learn about what to do by talking to the various townspeople, or you can just ignore them and blunder into the south side of town where the Sharks are. Even as late as Summers, the game largely trusts you to find where to go on your own, as you can only figure out about the Stoic Club by exploring around and talking to people. And even if you're extremely clueless or don't want to talk to people, you can always find the hint guy, who is hidden in every town and directs you to where you need to go every time. Of course, EarthBound does run into a few problems with this style of storytelling, one standout example being the Guide Dang It of getting past the Pencil Statue in Peaceful Rest Valley (you have to check the statue and walk back through the cave after you donate to Apple Kid). Still, between that problem and outright quest marking as done in most modern games, I'd prefer the former (not that either is good). I personally believe EarthBound should be counted among Half-Life and Bioshock as one of the "great linear games which avoid handholding." EarthBound's lack of handholding and cutscene-light nature makes it an experience that has aged surprisingly well and resonates with modern gaming's emphasis on freedom and agency despite ultimately being a linear game. This is all just my opinion, though. [link] [comments]

Posted: 16 Mar 2021 06:22 PM PDT Just a thought I had, seeing what the demographic is for a cult classic. Mostly people who stick with it after the game came out, or newer fans from Smash representation and the like? For context, 1989 is the original release of MOTHER, or EB Beginnings. In 1994, EarthBound released in Japan and the U.S. a year later. Finally, MOTHER 3 was released in 2006 for Japan only with the Tomato Translation releasing in 2008. Earthbound Beginnings officially released in 2015 on the Wii U VC. [link] [comments] |
