    So I've just beatin Earthbound and Mother (first time completing) and now I'm about to hop into the (hopefully not) last chapter of the series.

    Just beat earthbound. which game do I play next?

    I have both Mother 3 and 2 versions of mother 1 on my jailbroke snes mini. I don't know which game I should play next. I heard mother 1 is harder or something so the gameplay might be jarring after mother 3 or even earthbound in general. If a choose mother one do I chose the 25th anniversary version or I forget it's name (the other nes translation) or should I get that mother 1+ 2 version but I heard that one has badly ported music. If I choose mother 3 is it even possible to go back to mother 1 without skewing my opinion and enjoyment.

    What exactly is canon? tldr at end

    knowing absolutely nothing from their past you must play though 12 characters. We're gonna use ninten, or as i called him in my EB0 run "Adam" as an example (i'm gonna call him Adam because i don't like the dotted lines under ninten from spelling) Protagonists are silent, your party members are silent. The only backstory to Adam is the mother encyclopedia which is very vague, and Ness and Lucas barely had any backstory at all. There is so much left out of it. Also, i want to hear some of your thoughts on this. I'm also going to be having the speculation mostly in the us/eu version bc that has more space for me to speculate on

    !warning! this isn't 100% canon. I'm going to be as canon as possible but it's not 100%
    1st speculation

    in japan it's confirmed 1988 but in Europe and America it simply states 80 years later. Early 1900s could refer to anything. There is early, mid and late. So we can divide it by 3. So the tale of George and Maria can take place from 1900 - 1933. 80 years later we'll reach either 1980, or 2003. But 2003 is obviously wrong so we'll just use the medium. 1980+2003=3983.

    3983/2=1991.5 or that rounds to 1992. Which makes Adam, Ana and Lloyd born in 1980/1981 as they are all 11 or 12. EB takes place in 199X so we obviously have an idea. it could just be from 1990 - 1999 But the problem is mother 1 could ALSO TAKE PLACE in the early 1990s IE 1991/1992. And the library map is due in 2001. And no library will let you keep anything for longer than a year (unless bc of covid most libraries are closed) so we can say it takes place in 1999. Ness is 13 which makes him born in 1986

    2nd speculation.

    literally every character's backstory. Earthbound gave us 12 playable characters with very vague backstories. 100% of all silent protagonists have a vague past. Adam, Ana, Lloyd, have the mother encyclopedia, but that's again, vague. Ness, Paula, Jeff, and Poo have no history at all (though ness was able to use psi as a toddler) yet Adam/ninten wasn't able to.

    To remain partially canon i'm going to use something that WAS stated in the mother encyclopedia.

    "This is you" is a quote from it above Adam. This could mean that Adam literally is me. If that's not enough his name used to be called boku. Which means I or Me. Lloyd and Ana isn't you so the only thing i can say about them is the average things a 2 - 10 year old would do, (might apply to adam as well)

    tldr (again, not 100% canon, but this uses canon contexts)

    mother 1 could take place in 1991/1992 due to "early 1900s meaning 1900-1933 and add 80 years to get 1980/2003 and that makes 1991.5 the mean number. So 1991/1992 is the year making the protagonists, born in 1980/1981

    backstories of the characters were barely mentioned and the mother encyclopedia is vague. But they did say that Ninten IS YOU and his name was Boku. there is a 5 year time gap so the sentence after it says the day of his birth. He's already 5 years old. So i can apply some generic fact i did when i was 0-5 and it could be true (i said could be because it isn't 100% canon but i used canon contexts)

    Just got Ana in my party and I want to know what level I should get her to. Ninten is currently 22, Lloyd is 18, and Ana is 11. Also, what Level should I get Teddy to when he joins?
