Posted: 13 Mar 2021 07:59 AM PST I'm a nearly 40 year old. I played Earthbound when it came out and still have my cartridge. I know it inside and out and have a huge emotional connection to it. In fact I'm currently playing it with my own daughters. I have never played Mother 3. Would it be worthwhile? What are the pros and cons? How would the experiences compare? And if playing it what's the best way? [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Mar 2021 08:30 AM PST I know this is brought up quite often, but I still thought I'd share my thoughts. After beating Earthbound and Mother 3 a couple years ago, I finally decided to beat Mother. It felt like it was my destiny to complete every game in the series. Up until recently, I was scared to even attempt to play Mother. I kept hearing how "difficult" and "outdated" the game is. I don't completely agree that it's outdated, but my goodness, everyone was right when they said it's difficult. In fact, Mother is probably the hardest game I've ever played. Whether it was encountering an enemy every two seconds, or not knowing where the hell I was supposed to go, it was rough. I actually had given up at one point because I was so frustrated, but then I remembered my self-obligation to beat it. So, I went to work. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears (but mostly tears) went into beating that game. Yet, I felt it was all worth it in the end. For one, it really helped tie the story together. Also, it introduced a lot of what makes the series so fun, whether it's the unique characters, the battles, the music, all of it. Speaking of the music, the soundtrack for each game is top-tier. Anyways, it's made me think about what the series as a whole means to me. I think about all the fun times I've had playing the games. I think about how spectacular the overall story is, and how it almost makes me feel like I'm there witnessing all these events. Above all, I think about how I'm not the only one who feels this way about the Mother series. Personally, I can't think of any other game series that brings people together more than this one. The craziest thing to me is how I even got into it in the first place. I've played Smash Bros games for as long as I can remember, so I always knew about Ness. After years and years, I finally thought to myself, "Hmm, I wonder what the game Ness is originally from is like". And the rest is history. [link] [comments]

Posted: 12 Mar 2021 08:27 PM PST What are some books that have similar themes to the Mother series? (I know I already asked this, but I'm asking again in hopes that more people will give recommendations) [link] [comments] |
