How "The Notebook" Trilogy Inspired MOTHER 3 - A Super Mambo Combo Write-up Posted: 12 May 2020 01:14 PM PDT If any EarthBound fans ask how The Notebook trilogy inspired MOTHER 3 (and they don't mind major spoilers) you can link them here! ​ Four page write-up via Google Docs Video series playlist on YouTube ​ Ever since MOTHER 3's inception -all the way back to when it was supposed to be released on N64- it's been known that Ágota Kristóf's "Le Grand Cahier" (known in English as "The Notebook") trilogy inspired Shigesato Itoi in creating MOTHER 3. Those of you that know about this have likely read that Lucas and Claus are based on the twin narrators of the same name. There have been short write-ups in the past comparing Itoi's story to Kristóf's, but having just played the game recently I wanted to really sit down with the novels and compile every potential reference in one place. This has been a month long research project, yielding some interesting discoveries; Duster's leg handicap, occupation as a thief, and relationship with his father being represented as a character in each book for example. It's become clear that the game pulls its major themes of familial loss and separation from the books, too - with The Third Lie (the last book in the series) drawing grim parallels to the game's ending. It has a takeaway that might just provide insight to what EarthBound 64's supposed "darker" finale could've been like... If you want just the condensed information in text form, click here. getting into mother franchise Posted: 11 May 2020 10:27 PM PDT I have been wanting to get into the mother series and idk where to start, i did play earth bound for about 8 hours but lost all of my progress cause of me not knowing how to emulate lol, im fine with bad controls and old graphics but im kinda ehh with difficulty. where should i start? How to play Mother 3 on my TV w/ a wireless Xbox one controller? Posted: 12 May 2020 02:00 AM PDT Use the Wireless Display app on Xbox to stream my Windows 10 A/V to my Xbox. Plug a USB Xbox controller dongle into my PC. Profit? I don't want to sit at my computer to play. Or even play it on a backlit GBA (which I imagine is optimal) but rather my TV. I'm with AVGN re: games being played in your living room. I ordered the USB dongle so I am hoping it will be sufficient. I understand it's a rhythmic game and that lag could be an issue, but it is difficult for me to imagine that it could possibly be worse than Retropie with a USB SNES controller :l Please correct me if any of that is wrong. Will. it. blend? I believe the I/O is: Controller - USB dongle/PC - Router - Xbox Wireless Display app It usually streams my PC screen to my Xbox/TV screen in what appears to be near real time; but I've never used it with a wireless Xbox controller to play games; much less rhythmic ones.
